Produt Review - Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt

The Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt is quickly becoming one of my FAVORITE Norwex products, and although it's name doesn't indicate it, this little mitt works all over the house, not just in the bathroom!

The Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt is a hybrid of the Norwex Dusting Mitt and the Norwex Kitchen Scrub Cloth, in the form of a mitt - a PERFECT solution for quick and efficient cleaning.

The scrubby half of the mitt is great for removing stuck on soap scum, hard water build up (especially great with the Norwex Descaler), and general bathroom grungies.  Although it feels like it might scratch, it won't - it is completely safe for all smooth surfaces (I still recommend doing a test scrub in an inconspicuous place before going crazy with it).  When you're done getting the tough stuff off, you just flip the mitt, and the reverse side (a plush microfiber weave) will clean and disinfect your surfaces to a shine!  Of course, all of this needs to be done with water.

When I clean my tub and shower, I use it sopping wet at first - for both the scrub side and the soft side - I find this fast and highly effective for getting it clean.  When I'm done, I rinse and wring out the mitt, and then wipe over all the surfaces again with the damp soft side.  This removes all the excess water so your tub and shower will dry without water marks or streaks.

As I mentioned earlier, this nifty mitt is not only for bathrooms -  I use it all over the house, for general wiping.  Although I love my Enviro Cloth, I find that the Bathroom Scrub Mitt is much faster and easier for wiping down light switches, door handles, dirty wall spots, cupboard fronts etc. - anything that little, sticky, food covered fingers like to touch!  It stays on my hand very well (and I have little wee hands), and doesn't go all bunchy like the enviro cloths do when doing lots of little jobs.  The scrubby side comes in handy for getting off dried on food bits from those light switches.....ewww!

I haven't tried it yet, (because it only gets done twice a year!), but I imagine that the scrub mitt would be great for cleaning the inside of you vehicles!!!  Has anyone out there tried this, or have you found any other great uses for this product?  I'd love to hear!

Norwex Cleans Cars!!!

It's difficult keeping a vehicle clean and orderly - they become like temporary homes, but rarely do they get the same attention and TLC that our houses gets, especially concerning cleanliness.

The extent of messiness is drastically magnified when kids are thrown into the equation....in our personal situation, 4 kids ranging in age from 2 to 8....2 girls and 2 boys! Toys, shoes, clothes, hats, food wrappers, food still in wrappers, rotting food out of wrappers, diapers (clean and wet), smooshed kleenex boxes shoved under the seats, and a host of crumbs and mystery bits in the booster and car seats. Not to mention the stains on the upholstery and the finger prints and smears all over the windows!

It wouldn't be fair to lay all the blame on the kids though....my hubby and I contribute a little bit to the state of disarray!....coffee cups and coffee spills, receipts, and old grocery lists, and our own collection of food crumbs!

Generally we clean the van bi-anually; once in the fall, before the winters snow, and again in the spring....which is by far the scariest of the 2 cleanings! We're all too cold in the winter to bother going back to the van to get the extra stuff.

Normally I take on the van cleaning challenge armed with MANY different cleaning products - Mr Clean, Windex, Armour-All, lots of rags and a bucket of warm water. This last time however, I only used a vacuum, the Norwex Antibac Enviro Cloth, a Norwex Widow Cloth, Carpet Stain Buster, a Micropad and a bucket of water.

The results were ASTOUNDING to say the least!

I was amazed at how fast and efficiently I could clean even the muckiest of messes, without the fumes or bubbles ....JUST WATER - I was done cleaning in record time, and it was definitely cleaner than it would have been had I used the chemicals - there was no sticky and smelly cleaner residue left on the van surfaces!

Follow these simple steps to get your vehicle Norwex Clean:

  1. Thoroughly vacuum the floors and vehicle upholstery - sorry, there's no Norwex Vacuum!
  2. Using a wet Norwex Enviro Cloth, wipe down the interior of your car (dash, steering wheel, doors, door handles, etc.), rinsing your enviro cloth with water as needed.  If you have extra dirty surfaces, spray them first with warm water, and let them sit as you wipe the less dirty stuff first - this gives the water time to loosen the grime - then wipe clean with the enviro cloth.  If there are scuff marks or the like that your enviro cloth can't remove, use a small piece of a wet Micropad - it will do the trick.
  3. Again, using your Norwex Enviro Cloth, wipe the insides of your windows - one at a time - and then immediately wipe dry with you Norwex Window Cloth for a streak free shine!
  4. If you have one, use the grey Norwex Car Cloth to wipe over all of your clean surfaces - it "buffs" them to a nice shine!
  5. Next, spray any stains or ground in dirt on the upholstery with the Norwex Carpet Stain Buster (both floor and seats).  Give it a few minutes to penetrate and "eat" the stains, then, using your wet Norwex Enviro Cloth give the upholstery a little scrub.  You will be amazed at how well this works!
  6. Lastly, I used the Norwex Mattress Spray and misted all of the seats, head-rests and floors to eliminate any dust/dust mites.
  7. Stand in awe of your fresh, clean and serene vehicle.....at least until the kids pile in again!
As you may have noticed, this didn't cover washing the exterior of your vehicle.....that's another blog post all together!

Product Review - Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

$24.99 CAD
I LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOVE the Norwex Ultra Plus Laundry Detergent!!! Here's my story.....

I had a dilemma....an unavoidable, smelly dilemma: my front load washing machine smelled HORRIBLE! Every time I would open the machine door, it was like someone stuck an old, dirty, bacteria-laden, moldy dish cloth in my face....that's what the washer smelled like, and that's what my clothes would smell like when they were finished being washed. It was pretty gross.

We purchased our front load washing machine just before our second child was born, about 6 years ago. I had been doing all of our laundry at my in-laws, since we didn't have a washer of our own, and I knew that with a baby in the house, the laundry level would sky-rocket. So, being the penny pinching couple that we are, my hubby and I went on the hunt for an energy efficient washer and dryer that would save us money for the long haul. We did our research and decided to purchase a front load machine, which uses FAR LESS water and detergent than a top load machine....great for our bank account, our well and our septic system!

What I wasn't anticipating was the smell the would emerge about 6 months into owning it.

I tried everything to get rid of the odour - I left the door of the machine open in between cycles to dry it out, I did loads with no clothes, just hot water and lots of bleach, I consistently wiped out the sludge from the rubber seal around the door, I used the HE liquid detergent (like I was told), and I used less than half the amount than the bottle instructed me to, . But the smell remained, and I figured it was something I would have to learn to live with.

Then I became a Norwex consultant, and thought that I should probably try the Norwex Laundry Detergent. After all, I wanted to be able to give an educated opinion about how well the stuff worked. I was really quite skeptical about it's efficiency......it's a powdered detergent, and I've not had much luck with powdered stuff in the past - my clothes would always come out with white detergent residue all over them, especially my dark loads. So I anticipated that the Norwex detergent would be the same.

Boy, was I wrong - the Norwex detergent was NOTHING like the other stuff I had used, and I will never go back to using the store brand laundry soap. Here are some of the things that are so fabulous about this detergent:
  • Norwex Laundry Detergent is highly concentrated. For a top-load machine, you only have to use 1-2 tablespoons per load, and for a front load washing machine the amount needed is reduced to 1/4 - 1/2 of a teaspoon per load of laundry! The detergent is $24.99 for a 2kg bag, and with my front loader, I should get approximately 800 loads from the one bag! That's less than per load of laundry!
  • Norwex Laundry Detergent contains no fillers or perfumes, which means that there is no filler residue left on my clothes. This is great for 3 reasons:

    1. The fillers & perfumes are usually the cause for allergic reactions and skin sensitivities. My 4 year old who has mild eczema and very sensitive skin, doesn't react at all to the Norwex detergent - this is GREAT!

    2. The fillers that stay in your clothes contribute to fading and thinning of the fabric of the clothes, so your favorite, lovely black shirt quickly turns greyish, and stretches out - not such a favorite anymore. The Norwex detergent won't do this to your clothes. As a matter of fact, since starting with the Norwex detergent, I've noticed a significant reduction of lint in my dryer lint trap.....the lint is the fabric that is degraded enough to "fall off" your clothes!

    3. The fillers from store brand laundry soap, increase the amount of static you will have when you dry your clothes in the dryer, and also the filler residue will leave your clothes "crunchy" if you dry your clothes on a clothesline. The Norwex detergent leaves no filler residue, so your clothes are less staticy in the dryer, and less stiff on the clothesline! (For even softer, fluffier clothes, use the Norwex Dryer Balls in the dryer!)

  • And the MOST fabulous thing about the Norwex Ultra Power Laundry Detergent? The disgusting smell from my front load washing machine has completely disappeared! I had been using the detergent for about 3 weeks, when I noticed that I was no longer being assaulted by the awful smell when I would open the washing-machine door! And the slimy, sludge that would always grow inside the rubber seal is also gone!!!
So there you go....my epic story of laundry!

I rate this Norwex product with 5 BIG stars!!! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Product Review - Norwex Mattress Cleaner Dust Mite Spray ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

  • Continues working until all organic material is removed

So Does it Actually Work?
Absolutely! This is an amazing product for anyone who suffers from dust allergies, asthma, or for people who snore! Yes, the Norwex Mattress Spray can reduce or eliminate snoring.... my hubby was a snorer, but about a week after my first application of the mattress spray, I noticed that he wasn't really snoring at all - Hooray!!!
I also have customers who no longer have to use their inhalers, now that they've started using the Norwex Mattress Spray. Listen to this customers experience:
"Every morning I would wake, and reach for my inhaler (for my tight chest), and then spend the next 30-40 minutes sneezing repeatedly, as my system rid itself of the stuff that had accumulated in my sinuses and chest during my night's sleep. I used the Norwex Mattress Spray on our bed, pillows and duvet, and waited to see if it would help. Two weeks later, I threw my inhaler in the garbage! No longer was my breathing laboured in the morning, and the sneezing attacks stopped! This mattress spray is worth it's weight in gold!" (Pattie, Saint John, NB)

$35.99CAD

•Must be sprayed directly on the mattress (no need to flip), pillows, stuffed animals, furniture or carpet
Use it twice a year, every 6 months. For asthmatic households, use it quarterly, every four months.
NOT for use on crib mattresses
Why Is It Important To Reduce the Number of Dust Mites In Our Homes?
Dust mites are microscopic. About 50 of them can fit on the head of a pin. Dust mites feast on the fungus that grows from dead skin cells and animal dander. The average adult sheds about 15 lbs of skin cells per year; 80% of that is shed in bed.
On average, one dust mite produces 50 fecal pellets daily .These droppings are the most common cause of dust -related allergies. Approximately 80% of asthmatics are allergic to dust mites.Guess what? It’s not the Dust Mites causing the allergies; it's the feces they leave behind.
There are millions of dust mites in your home, which live in your furniture, carpet, bed, bedding, and even your children's stuffed toys. Did you know that 10% of the average pillow’s weight is dust mite feces?

How Does Norwex Mattress Cleaner Work to Get Rid of Dust Mites?
Norwex Mattress Spray is a chemical-free bio-neutralizer containing microorganisms whose job it is to eat organic matter. This includes dust mites and their feces.

I thought microorganisms weren't neccessarily stable at room temperature?
The microorganisms that live in Norwex Mattress Spray are what are called "shelf-stable." This means that they're able to survive at room temperature, basically due to their inability to metabolize nutrients contained in the liquid product (the pH of the liquid is also a factor).

Okay, But What About Dry Climates Like Alberta Where Dust Mites Don't Thrive?
It's true that in dry climates like Alberta and Saskatechewan, dust mites aren't nearly the problem they are in more humid areas like B.C., Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. For many allergy sufferers, though, even a relatively small number of dust mites can cause a big problem. I have many Alberta customers who visit my website specifically to purchase Norwex Mattress Cleaner because they swear by its ability to dramatically reduce allergic reactions.

Norwex Gifts and Gift Baskets

Norwex Offers Real Estate Closing Gifts That Make a Lasting Impression

Attention real estate professional (not just realtors and real estate agents but mortgage brokers, property managers, and real estate developers too!)

Real estate agencies have a zillion restrictions places on tem in terms of how they can market their business. Here are my thoughts on what I believe is an incredibly effective real estate marketing strategy and an under-utilized opportunity. Closing gifts can be an effective tool in building a solid foundation for your business! The right real estate closing gift creates a lasting impression on the receiver, and gives you an opportunity for referrals and future sales. Read how:

Why give a real estate closing gift?

Real estate is often an emotional roller coaster, and when you've closed the sale, it can be such a relief. But wait! While other agents, managers and brokers consider their job done and might send a thank you note, you can gain a valuable advantage. Go the extra mile and give your client or tenant a real estate closing gift they'll use and enjoy in their new home.

Of course, sending a "thank you" note is a solid business practice. Many companies do this to show appreciation, and it's certainly better than sending nothing at all. By all means, do send the note of thanks, but send it along with something useful! Imagine how your special your clients will feel if a unique gift is delivered right to their home. That's what closing gifts are all about - a way to say "thanks" and be remembered for years to come. As one realtor puts it, "I consider it a matter of professional courtesy and respect to show your appreciation at the end of what can be a frustrating and emotional experience for the client.”

What makes a good closing gift?

A good gift is something that will be appreciated by your clients as useful and practical. One challenge, though, is selecting a gift that meets budget constraints and is neither inappropriately generous nor so frugal that it undermines the goodwill it’s intended to create. Other challenges are that it's time-consuming to shop for each client, and it's sometimes hard to know what your client would like as a gift. Norwex solves these problems by offering real estate professionals an easy closing gift idea: the Norwex Gift Basket!

Imagine - No more shopping 'til you drop for gifts you can't afford and your clients may not like or appreciate! Everyone who tried Norwex loves it, and it's a perfect thematic tie-in for real estate professionals. What better gift to give than one which can be used by your clients to keep their prized new possession - their home - clean and healthy?

What is a Norwex Gift Basket?

This is a simple basket or container of your choosing, into which you put a few of the Norwex must-haves for any homeowner. Some examples of what you could include might be an Antibac Cloth, a Window Cloth, Cleaning Paste, Descaler, Sanira Toilet System or Mattress Cleaner. If you were a brand new homeowner, wouldn't you appreciate a gift basket full of things you could use to keep your new home sparkling clean? And wouldn't you remember the giver fondly?

How is a Norwex Gift Basket Cost-Effective?

If you join Norwex as a wholesale consultant/distributor, the one-time cost to you is $39.99 in Canada and Free in the U.S. (In the US, new Consultants receive a Deluxe Starter Kit which includes product samples and the administrative supplies needed to sell the product line. The Deluxe Starter Kit is valued at over $200.00, there is no initial cost for the kit, with the agreement that the new consultant sell $2,000.00 worth of product within their first 3 months, if not, they are billed $200.00 for the kit.) After that, you're able to purchase your products at a 40% discount. Here's a very basic example of the cost to you of a basic Norwex Gift Basket (I've used $CAD and Alberta sales tax for this example):

PRODUCT Your Cost: Retail Cost

TIP: Add a Norwex catalogue to each basket. Once your clients try these products, they'll be back for more. Your wholesale ordering number also acts as your consultant number of you decide to sell Norwex for profit.

An Antibac Cloth Speaks Volumes!

Clients aren't the only ones who can receive closing gifts from your company. You could also consider all those you've worked with throughout the sales or rental process. There are closing lawyers, lending institutions, mortgage companies, home improvement specialists, appraisers, insurance agents, housekeepers, etc. All those who contribute to making your real estate sales possible would love to receive a thoughtful little closing gift from you (like an antibac or window cloth). Also, don't forget to send a gift to those who refer others to you!

How does the Norwex stuff get to my clients?

Delivering your gift personally one to two weeks after the closing, though not always convenient, can be a very valuable marketing strategy! This approach allows you to check on your clients “to be sure everything is going okay”, and it ensures that they feel you went the extra mile for them!

TIP: Norwex products can be delivered to any North American address, so if your clients are living elsewhere, send them a little note thanking them and telling them to watch the mail for a special delivery!

The Marketing Benefits of Real Estate Closing Gifts

The benefits of giving closing gifts are tremendous. One reason you'll want to make this a normal practice is it will increase your real estate referrals dramatically. Imagine the increase in leads of potential buyers and sellers if you suddenly have everyone you work with referring you sincerely to others!

Your current clients will be much more likely to give you those valuable referrals if you take a little extra time, after their closing, to show them how much they are appreciated! And when the time comes for them to buy again; they are more likely to “look you up” for the job!

Examples:

*The client refers you because the purchase went smoothly AND they received a unique and useful closing gift from you.

*The closing attorney works with many people in real estate, even potential real estate buyers or sellers. You're the real estate agent who stands out because you show such appreciation for the attorney.

*The person who cleans the homes or apartments for you may have family and friends who are interested in buying, selling or renting a home.

More Benefits for Rental Property Managers

If you're a rental property owner or manager, giving a housewarming gift basket to a tenant is a great way to say "thank you" and to let them know you'll be there when they need you. This helps with both new tenant referrals and resident retention. You can also give gifts to those who work with you to clean or repair the rental property. The home improvement specialists who do property maintenance for you may also do the same thing for others who are getting ready to sell their home. Because of your thoughtfulness, you always come to mind when real estate conversations arise.

Another benefit is the potential of repeat business when your clients get ready to buy, sell, build or rent again. The way in which you treat clients during and after the sale will make an everlasting impression. A closing gift tells your clients that you value them and appreciate their business.

ProductReview - Norwex Carpet Stain Buster ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

The Norwex Carpet Stain Buster was introduced in summer 2007, and wow, does it ever work!
It's meant to remove organic matter, and it "eats" through red wine, baby stains, sick kid stains, urine stains, and anything other protein-based stain you can think of. You can literally watch it happen! It works where chemical cleaning solutions fail, and is truly amazing. Listen to this customers experience with the Carpet Stain Buster

"My dad tripped while holding a full glass of red wine, which spilled across my parents' brand new white wool rug in what can best be described as a blood-spatter pattern.
By the time I got to my parent's house, the stain was a few hours old and my mom had tried blotting it with a wet cloth and soda water. We sprayed a generous amount of Carpet Stain Buster on the stains, and then waited ten minutes so that we could blot them. By the time the ten minutes had passed, the stains were almost invisible. By the next morning, the stains were totally gone. It was incredible.
Carpet Stain Buster is also a really effective spot cleaner. My friend and I sprayed it on a variety of old and unidentifiable stains (of various sizes and colors) on the basement carpet of the house she just moved into, and it took out almost all the marks.
It did not completely remove one large orange stain, which we think must have been an orange drink of some sort. It did significantly lighten a coffee stain that had been previuosly attacked with a variety of chemical cleaners, although it did not completely remove it. This could be because it had already been treated and re-treated with other products and the stain was "set."

$28.99
NOTE: Norwex says of their Carpet Stain Buster that it keeps working for hours after cleaning, and will not leave residue that attracts new contaminants. I would definitely agree with the part about how it keeps working after the fact, as was the case of the red wine on the wool carpet.
But if you use it and forget to blot later, it will start to attract dirt within a few days. However, reapplication of the Stain Buster will fix the problem.

Spot Cleaning:
  • For large areas, soak the soiled area with a mixture of 320 ml (10 oz) of Carpet Stain Buster to 4L (1 gallon) of water. (For smaller jobs, use a mixture of ¼ cup Carpet Stain Buster to 4 cups of water.) Try to soak through the backing and carpet pad as well. Scrub the area with a soft clean cloth. Blot as much moisture out as possible.
  • Carpet Stain Buster may be used full strength, but be sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first.
Extracting with a carpet cleaning machine:
  • Pre-treat heavily soiled areas by spraying on a mixture of 200 ml (6 oz) of Carpet Stain Buster to 4L (1 gallon) of water with a spray bottle.
  • Let sit undisturbed for at least 10 minutes.
  • Mix 32 ml (1 oz) of Carpet Stain Buster to 4L (1 gallon) of water for the Carpet Cleaning machine and extract over pre-treated and all other areas to be cleaned.
NOTE: Norwex recommends using Carpet Stain Buster in your own machine only, as rented machines come with a contract where you agree to use the product specified therein.
Neutral pH
Size: 500ml
Warranty: 60 days
NOTE: Always test in an inconspicuous place before using.
